District Christmas Party

The Christmas traditions in Ukraine are different from our traditions. First, Christmas is celebrated on January 7th. Santa Claus is Father Christmas, and New Year’s celebration is a bigger event than Christmas. The church members, however, have a gathering on Christmas Eve at one of the branches and have a spiritual talk followed by a talent show type program with different acts and musical numbers by the branch members. It was a great program with some very cute skits, wonderful musical numbers, and original poetry recited. The Ukrainians love to compose original poetry, and it is really quite good. Several of the church members have given us little Christmas gifts, which has been so heart-warming to us.

The Cheriakovs work with the return missionaries. Our candy necklace is their gift to us.
