Lots of Events This Week

We had an unexpected trip to Warsaw on Tuesday after Monday’s P Day when Elder Smith broke his ankle playing soccer with the other missionaries.  We left Tuesday morning to take Elder Smith to the Mission Home for his exit interview with President Nielson.  We stayed overnight at the Home and departed for Katowice the next morning.  The Nielsons put him on the plane at 6:00 a.m. the next morning.  (They needed to be at the airport two hours earlier for check-in and security.)   This is why Mission Presidents always come home looking tired after their 3 years in the field!  But the Nielsons love doing these selfless acts for all their missionaries.  They are wonderful servants of the Lord.

After getting back to Katowice we quickly put our English lesson together and prepared some food for Institute that night.  Friday we had a mission training session by the Nielsons with the missionaries from Wroclaw.  The topic was Good, Better, and Best Missionaries.  And these missionaries are certainly the BEST.  Our part of the training was the food,  so the temporal nourishment as well as the spiritual nourishment completed the training.

The countryside is striped with these beautiful fields of yellow flowers, the seeds of which are used to make oil used in in the production of plastic, as a lubricant, and also for protein for cattle. With some modification to the oil, Canola oil for cooking is made from these seeds.

On the way to Warsaw we just had to get a picture of Poland’s springtime scenery.  The countryside is striped with these beautiful fields of yellow flowers, the seeds of which are used to make oil used in in the production of plastic, as a lubricant, and also for protein for cattle. With some modification to the oil, Canola oil for cooking is made from these seeds.

Here we are arriving at the Mission Home in Warsaw delivering our "package". Elder Smith didn't complain at all during the 3 and a half hour trip to Warsaw, but it must have been uncomfortable in the car, not being able to stretch out. It's a good thing he brought black gym shorts with him and not orange or some other bright color!
