Culture Night for the Missionaries

Last Friday the Elders and the Reeds had a wonderful culture night in a city adjacent to Katowice called Chorzow.  The Philharmonic from this city was performing music by George Gershwin, and we all love this great composer, so this was the perfect culture night for  us.  The Sisters had a late lesson that evening and were sorry they couldn’t go.  But we all knew which was more important!

President Nielson allows the missionaries to take one culture night in their busy schedules, which is truly wonderful for them.  There is so much to enjoy in each city of this beautiful country.  The Philharmonics are all outstanding, and the Polish people really do appreciate good music.  They come dressed in suits and attractive dresses  for these special nights of music.  We love and admire the appreciation for the arts here.

The guest pianist was featured in Gershwin's "Raphsody in Blue". His fingers literally flew over the keys, and the audience gave him a standing ovation following this piece, to which he responded with an encore.

After the concert we walked down the main part of Chorzow since we had never been to the center of the city before. Elder Polselski, Elder Brown, Elder Reed, Elder Rittmanic, and Elder Dopp.

The Elders went on and Elder and Sister Reed enjoyed the lights of the promenade. Since is was late, the stores were all closed, and there were few people on the street.
