We are here to serve the Lord and bring to others the knowledge of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are here to help our Branch members strengthen their testimonies and commitment to the Lord. We see the work progressing as we witness the diligent work of our young missionaries, and as we feel the wonderful Spirit in our Branch each Sunday during our meetings. Our numbers are few, but the Spirit is strong. We love our missionaries and our Branch members.
A couple of Sundays ago we had a visitor come in to the chapel on Sunday morning to worship with us, and after the meeting he had some questions about our doctrines. Instead of the missionaries taking him aside to talk with him, a couple of our members just stepped in and started teaching him and answering his questions. We even had an investigator join in on the conversation. It’s so heart-warming to see the members having this great desire to spread the truth to others.
Last week we had an activity after our Wednesday afternoon English classes at the church which was planned by the Sisters. At the conclusion of the three classes which are offered, we all gathered in the chapel where the Sisters sang the hymn, Joseph’s First Prayer. There was such a wonderful feeling in the room as everyone listened and enjoyed the music. The Sisters often sing a hymn in the home of someone they are teaching, and it brings such a wonderful spirit in that home. After a blessing on the refreshments, we all mingled with one another so the people in the various classes could get to know each other better. We had about 15 people attend the English classes that day, and they all seemed to enjoy the socializing.
Our Elders and Sisters are teaching and contacting people all week long, and at the end of each day they have the great satisfaction of knowing that they have reached many people, some willing to listen, and others not interested. But many seeds have been planted along the way. Since we don’t speak the language, we are not too effective on the street; but we certainly keep busy with just keeping the Branch running smoothly. Elder Reed is enjoying his calling as Branch President, and we both dearly love our Branch members. We always have at least 3 or 4 investigators at our Sacrament Meeting each Sunday, due to the teaching and diligence of our young missionaries.
We are so grateful that we can serve our Lord and Savior in this way. In our Church there is always something we can do to build the Lord’s Kingdom here on earth, whether we are young or old. What a great blessing that is to all of us! The Gospel of Jesus Christ as was taught by the Savior as He walked the earth has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Fullness of the Gospel is being taught and spread to the world, and we are grateful to be a part of this great work. The Book of Mormon along with the Bible is the Word of God, and it is true. Our testimony of this grows each day as we serve. Thanks be to God for His Church and the testimony we have of the truth.
