A Monument of Remembrance

In front of the University Theater there is a park which has a huge monument of two crosses with a rope around them. This is in commemoration of the 1956 Uprising in Poznan. There was a large demonstration by the Polish workers protesting the working conditions in the country. There were 60-100 people killed in this uprising. The inscription on the monument reads, “Of God, Freedom, Truth, and Bread”. It is quite an impressive structure.

To get a sense of the size of these crosses, Elder Reed is standing at the foot of the cross on the left.
